Sandvik to provide loaders, vans and drills to Aris Mining for Marmato gold growth


Sandvik Mining says it has acquired a big order from Aris Mining for underground mining gear to assist the growth of its Marmato operation in Colombia. The gear bundle contains loaders, underground vans and a variety of improvement, manufacturing and longhole drilling rigs.

Mats Eriksson, President of Sandvik Mining, stated: “This order displays the robust partnership we’ve constructed with Aris Mining and their confidence in Sandvik’s underground mining options.

“By supplying a complete fleet of underground gear to Marmato, we’re supporting Aris Mining’s development ambitions whereas serving to enhance productiveness, security and operational effectivity at their operations.”

Along with the gear provide, the settlement features a upkeep and restore providers contract, supporting excessive gear availability and lifecycle efficiency. Discussions concerning potential future collaboration on automation, digital options and mine optimisation applied sciences are ongoing.

Marmato has traditionally mined the Slender Vein Mine Zone, an epithermal gold deposit requiring small-scale, labour-intensive mining strategies, and processed its mill feed by way of a 1,000 tpd flotation plant. Aris Mining is at the moment increasing Marmato by:

  • Accessing the Bulk Mining Zone, a porphyry hosted mesothermal gold deposit under the Slender Vein Mining Zone; and
  • Constructing a brand new Carbon-in-Pulp processing plant with a throughput capability of 5,000 t/d and considerably improved recoveries in comparison with the flotation plant.

Utilising mechanized bulk mining strategies along with processing the mill feed by way of the brand new, a lot bigger CIP plant is anticipated to considerably enhance productiveness and develop annual gold manufacturing, Aris Mining says.
