South Africa’s mining manufacturing up 9.7% y/y in Feb

South Africa’s mining manufacturing up 9.7% y/y in Feb


Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) has reported that the nation’s mining manufacturing elevated by 9.7% year-on-year in February, with platinum group metals (PGMs), chromium ore, manganese ore and gold having made the most important constructive contributions.

Iron-ore and coal made the most important damaging contributors.

Additional, Stats SA’s information reveals that seasonally adjusted mining manufacturing elevated by 2.3% year-on-year in February. This adopted month-on-month modifications of three.7% and -2.1% in January and December, respectively.

Seasonally adjusted mining manufacturing decreased by 1.7% within the three months ended February, in contrast with the earlier three months. The most important damaging contributors have been iron-ore and PGMs, whereas manganese ore made the largest constructive contribution.

MINERAL SALES
Mineral gross sales at present costs elevated by 58.3% year-on-year in February, with gold, PGMs and chromium ore having made the largest constructive contributions.

‘Different’ non-metallic minerals and manganese ore have been the most important damaging contributors.

Seasonally adjusted mineral gross sales at present costs elevated by 9.4% in February, in contrast with January. This adopted month-on-month modifications of -8% in January and 21.8% in December.

Seasonally adjusted mineral gross sales at present costs elevated by 17.5% within the three months ended February, in contrast with the earlier three months.
