Australia’s oldest regularly working coal mine, the Metropolitan Mine, has taken a serious step in the direction of assembly its future manufacturing targets with the supply of a brand new Pleasure 7LS2A shearer from Komatsu, the OEM says.
Now in manufacturing, this shearer will work alongside Metropolitan’s present Pleasure 7LS2A shearer, enabling the mine, owned by Peabody Power, to optimise operations in and meet its evolving wants within the years forward.
The Pleasure 7LS2A and Pleasure 7LS2B shearers include a chopping peak of 1.6-3.5 m and machine weight of 59,000 kg.
The Metropolitan mine, in New South Wales, produced 2.2 Mt of coal in 2023. Traditionally the mine has produced a combination of coking, PCI and thermal coal.
