Mining know-how main ABB has joined the Mining Innovation Commercialisation Accelerator (MICA) Community, a pan-Canadian initiative bringing collectively stakeholders from a variety of fields to speed up the event and commercialisation of revolutionary mining applied sciences.
Its main goals are to modernise mining and enhance its productiveness and environmental efficiency, strengthen the Canadian mineral provide chain, and enhance the home and export gross sales of Canadian innovators.
Managed by The Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI), MICA has efficiently furthered greater than 250 initiatives, leveraging virtually C$115 million in federal and provincial funding, matched by trade.
By its membership, ABB and its clients can now collaborate on pilot initiatives and submit funding proposals for high-impact, revolutionary and clear applied sciences that will advance trade practices in one of many following methods: enhance mine manufacturing capability, at decrease price; scale back mining power consumption and GHG emissions; and implement good, autonomous mining techniques.
“ABB’s international management in automation and electrification, mixed with their sturdy dedication to sustainability, aligns seamlessly with MICA’s mission,” stated Chamirai Nyabeze, Director of the MICA Community. “Collectively, we might help speed up the commercialisation of superior applied sciences that may form the way forward for mining – making it smarter, cleaner, and extra environment friendly.”
“At ABB, we try to pave the best way for mining corporations to function, safer, leaner and cleaner,” stated Sachin Jari, Common Supervisor, Mining North America at ABB Course of Industries. “We consider our membership with the MICA Community might help break down obstacles for our clients domestically to discover, consider, innovate and finally obtain a greater approach ahead for the trade.”
